Along Came A Spider

Jacob has a new project at school!  All the kids in the class are to collect as many deceased insects as they can and bring them in to make a collage.  Jacob noticed that we had a few spiders that have become a little to comfortable on our front porch and He really wanted one of them.  He said " How cool would it be to bring in a Wolf Spider Mom?!"  I was very hesitant at first because I am not fond of spiders but my husband wanted no part of the expidition.

So....Jacob, my nephew Jesse, and Myself headed to the front porch looking as though we were going to war. Rubber gloves...Check!  Plastic container? Check!  Raid?... Check!  The spider that the boys chose was up very high and was VERY big! He was burrowed into a small space in the siding of the house.  I spayed him with the Raid and He only went in the little space even further.  So, I sprayed him again... And with one huge leap... He jump out of the space, hit the air, and zipped down his web like a bolt of lightning toward the ground with all eight legs spread wide open!  I let out a high pitched scream that would impress any soprano Opera singer and immediately I heard two young boys echo. Then..... Laughter!  My brave young men where laughing and chasing a dazed Wolf spider across the porch.  But my Spider catchers won the battle.  I think that it will be a very long time before we do that again, but it was a moment none of us will ever forget!
